Courses and Resources offered by EMERJ: Specialization Course in Public and Private Law Established 30 years ago, EMERJ promotes essential knowledge updates for legal practitioners through its Specialization Course in Public and Private Law. This course is conducted Monday to Friday in two shifts: day- time (8:00 AM to 12:00 PM) and evening (6:00 PM to 10:00 PM). Accredited by the State Education Council, it provides a lato sensu postgraduate program designed to enhance legal reasoning and current legal knowledge grounded in solid ethical values. With over 1,700 class hours spread over six semesters, the course is structured into modules that comprehensively address both Public Law and Private Law. The curriculum includes essential subjects required for the State Judiciary Examination, along with additional modules such as Social Security Law, Legal Portuguese, Judgment Technique, Research Methodology, and Higher Education Didactics, employ- ing contemporary casebased learning methods. Lato sensu graduate (360h) Recognized as part of the State Education System of Rio de Janeiro, EMERJ offers lato sensu graduate courses lasting a minimum of 360 hours in various areas of Law. These courses aim to train professionals capable of- meeting social demands while promoting updated legal knowledge and reasoning. Notable programs include the Specialization Course in Gender and Law and the Specialization Course in Civil Procedural Law. Extension courses (60h) EMERJ’s extension courses last up to 60 hours and are open to the general public without prerequisites. They are ideal for short-term updates in specific legal areas. These courses promote continuous education and pro- fessional development, aligning with EMERJ ’s mission to disseminate legal knowledge.
